Born in 1991 in Heidelberg, Germany, yet of greek origin, Jannis Raptis spent most of his childhood and youth in Germany and Belgium before eventually graduating from high school in Vienna, Austria, where he studied Jazz Guitar until 2015. Besides being a passionate writer, composer, and music teacher Jannis Raptis specialized in the revival of the Middle Ages‘ tradition of Troubadours, featuring narrative ballads with medieval melodies and modern arrangements, which he fulfills and completes with all his knowledge of the Hellenic melodies from his homeland, as well as with Jazz, Latin, Flamenco, Jewish and Celtic influences. Throughout recent years, Jannis Raptis shared prosperous cooperation with many Viennese music artists, flourishing and eventually culminating in a plethora of live concerts and CD recordings.
Currently, Jannis Raptis is focusing on his solo career. His first solo record „Ansichten eines Troubadours“ (℗ Preiser Records, Vienna, 2019) is available everywhere. His long-expected debut novel ELASPHERA (© edition federleicht, Frankfurt am Main, 2020) is available everywhere.
