Happy February, folks!

How is 2023 treating you so far?

For me it is challenging and rewarding at the same time. I work too much, but that’s okay. You don’t become a rockstar overnight after all, do you?

So, project TRAVELER is just two months away! And there is still so much to do. Sometimes I feel the day doesn’t have enought hours, really. Sometimes it’s just too much. But I keep going, day after day, step by step. I have never been so focused in my life and if you ask me what my secret is, I’d tell you: there is no secret. There’s just things that have to be done!

But yeah, waking up early, meditating, doing yoga and some excercise helps. Oh, and of course the cold showers I started approaching one or two months ago and that slowly but steady are evolving from coldish to … solid cold. (Still lightyears away from what Wim Hof would consider „cold“, I guess).

So, how do I prepare for the launch of my project TRAVELER? What am I doing all day long?

I think most people don’t know how much work there is involved in order to achieve a smooth and rewarding launch. So let me explain. After holding the master tape and the finalized videos (both YouTube official videos, lyric videos and social media short videos) in my hands (which is still in the works) I have to make sure artwork, logos, jingles and all this stuff are at place.

The next and super important step is to contact bloggers and podcasters, playlist curators and influencers ALL over the world and of course the good old magazines, TV and radio shows. Those last three work best with a so-called promoter, whom you pay and who does this work for you. You see, there is a difference in receiving an email from a well-known person from within the business than from a total stranger who wants to be a rockstar.

Another thing I am doing is reaching out to other bands from all over the globe, asking them if they’d be interested in covering a song from TRAVELER. One must not forget that those 24 songs are all completely different to each other and I’d love to have other people playing my music.

Last, but not least, I am looking for a manager and a booker which I guess I’ll find along the way, so I’m not in a hurry right now. What I have to do though is have ready a lot of paperwork, like for example my branding model, marketing concept, price lists and the well-known technical rider. In this case I am working without a label for the simple reason that times have just changed. Finding a label nowadays doesn’t work like it did in the 1990s. THEY find you after you have gone viral all by yourself and even then, you must ask yourself: Do I really need them? Well, in my case the answer is a big fat YES, but I totally get it if people don’t bother about labels anymore. So, I guess if everything works out according to plan, they’ll end up finding me. Right now, I decided to release my music by myself via Distrokid. After all most Indie labels won’t do anything I can’t do by myself and until a Major label knocks at my back door, I will do my best to be ready for them.

So, all in all, this is how I am preparing right now. And you know what the best part is? All this is just the tip of the iceberg. Before you can even think about what your brand is about and who you are as a musician, you have to ask yourself some SERIOUS questions. Like some PROFOUND shit. So, if you ask me: finding yourself as an artist goes hand in hand with finding yourself as a human being and soul.

So yeah, that’s pretty much it. That’s all for now! I’ll see you soon.

Peace out
