Welcome back to another episode of our musical journey, where every song is a chapter in the evolving story of Project TRAVELER. I’m thrilled to share the creative process and background story of this month’s release, „Traveling Through Time,“ the ninth instalment in our ongoing adventure.

„Traveling Through Time“ is a unique exploration into the realms of self-discovery and authenticity. The song is anchored in the intriguing concept of meeting a past version of oneself, in this case, encountering my childhood self. The ambiguity of whether I am the time traveler or if the child version is adds a layer of mystery to the narrative.

The heart of the song lies in the poignant conversation between the present me and the young version of myself. Driven by a thirst for life’s meaning and happiness, my current self poses a series of questions to the patient, mysterious child. This dialogue weaves throughout the song, culminating in a powerful revelation during my „darkest hour.“

As the song reaches its pinnacle, a cathartic moment unfolds with the resounding declaration: „Don’t let them fool you, ‚cause you know exactly who I am!“ This statement encapsulates the core message of „Traveling Through Time“ – a resounding call to authenticity. It serves as a powerful reminder to trust oneself, to resist external influences, and to embrace the innate knowledge of who we truly are.

„Don’t let them fool you, ‚cause you know exactly

Who I am!“

Musically, „Traveling Through Time“ takes on a French-dream-pop groove, adorned with lush synthesizers. The melody, with its medieval undertones, initially earmarked for my next medieval album, underwent a transformation to meld seamlessly into the contemporary soundscape of TRAVELER. The result is a captivating fusion that resonates with both the past and the present.

In the grand tapestry of Project TRAVELER, we find ourselves in Central Europe thematically. It’s a reflective nod to my roots and upbringing, where the boy-version of myself is discovered. The journey through time aligns with our geographical progression, offering a deeper connection to the song’s essence.

„Traveling Through Time“, the ninth of twenty-four songs, came out on December 29th, 2023.

„Traveling Through Time“ is more than just a song; it’s a deeply personal exploration with a universal message. It serves as a guiding light for my present and future self, and for all the truth seekers navigating their unique paths.

As we continue our musical expedition through TRAVELER, I invite you to immerse yourself in the layers of „Traveling Through Time.“ Listen closely, let the melodies transport you, and perhaps, find echoes of your own journey in its verses.

Until next month’s rendezvous, stay curious, stay true, and keep traveling through the realms of music and time.

Time traveling regards,

Jannis

PPS: I thought I’ll add some personal notes at the end of each blog post, giving a short insight into my own journey right now. So, here it is:

My current diary pages (December 2023)

  • I recovered from the autopilot hell and am back to normal. Actually, I feel stronger and more focused than ever!
  • Christmas was fun. I had my share of food and Coca Cola.
  • Journaling the hell out of my system those last few days, reconnecting with my core values and identifying my core limiting beliefs: fear and mortality.
  • Reading a lot these days, mostly about deep work, flow state, brain chemistry, but also the obligatory marketing and music biz share.
  • Motivation!
  • The movie „Maestro“ by Bradley Cooper is amazing and you should check it out!
  • I’ll spend New Year’s eve in Cyprus – which means: eating, eating, eating and eating. As much as I appreciate the Stoics, sometimes beeing an Epicurean is just the best thing.
  • Thanks for reading until here. I appreciate you.

You like what you see and hear? Or you hate it, but for whatever reason, you still want to buy me a cup of coffee? I highly appreciate this!
